Hybrid Art.

As I focus more towards being "green" with my art, I am proud to say I have been 100%"green" since 2006. Just takes a little effort for you as artists but such a great cause. Yes, the products might be a little more expensive but in long run so much more beneficial. I am happy that I have been on the forefront of "hybrid artistry" for the past two years.

So far, I really love the whole process of painting with "green" products from start to finish.

The reality of it all is that our planet is in dire straits and in need of care.
In the future, it would be so amazing to see all artists go "green" and take a more active role in creating a healthy environment!

I look forward to this day!

Great Vegan Spot.

Nearby my place here in the SFV , there's this wonderful vegan restaurant/grocery/vitamin store that I've been frequenting for the past 14 years. It's called "Follow Your Heart."

I purchase all of my toiletries, vitamins, speciality foods, candles, and environmental products.
I also love, love, love their restaurant as well. They're known for their amazing salads as well as vegan dishes. Although, I am not a vegan, I love these types of health continuous dishes.

What's great about FYH is that there are only a few locations. Unlike the larger health-continuous grocery stores like Whole Foods or Fresh Choice, it's takes more of an independent approach & along the same lines as a Lassen's store (which btw is based out of Ventura County), which I love.

I hope that you find this site and store as helpful and fun as I do!

Another Passion of Mine!

photo: *my wild mushroom risotto*

For the longest, cooking has always been a great passion of mine. I love to create new dishes from the many cookbooks I own. Being an artist has helped me to approach my next dish with a creativity. I often feel like cooking is just another way of expressing myself. I like to think of the dish I am about to create as my empty canvas and the ingredients I choose to use as my paint colors.

Going GREEN!

"Going green" has been a pretty easy transition for my family and I. We have been "green" for the past 5 years now. Not yet 100% but really close. We have and maintain our own garden where I grow my own fruits and veggies --all organic. My kids love the fact that they help me grow, maintain and harvest them all. It's great because not only are we helping our environment but we are reaping the benefits by being able to have fresh produce for our discretion.
My family also loves to recycle everything at home from clothing, plastic goods, aluminum goods, paper goods, trees & plants, canned foods and lots of other items. I have always taught my kids to never liter, always help the less fortunate by donating their "gently used" toys, blankets and clothes to the appropriate org and to always recycle. I truly believe that if we all do our part than we will see the results and create positive change!

I still am really amazed how far we have come as a society in terms of really changing our mindset to really be able to "think green." It's a contentious effort on your part as a parent to take the responsibility to teach your kids the importance of maintaining the beauty of "Mother-Earth."
Have fun with it. Plant a tree, ride your bike instead of driving, make art out of recyclables, grow a garden, use canvas bags to do your weekly shopping. All these little steps towards the beautification will have a huge impact on our future! Stay focused!

Here are a few sites that I love and use on a regular basis.

http://www.localharvest.org/ (find a local farm/farmers market)
http://www.backyardgardener.com/ (great reference for novice to professional gardeners)
http://www.freecycle.org/ (great way to find items for free that people are discarding)
http://www.globalgreen.org/ (great way to help out and get involved)
http://www.globalgiving.com/ (great global giving ideas)

Have fun & feel good about doing your part to help!

As the years pass along, I am drawn to many different platforms with my direction, compositions and subjects. I feel free when I am immersed in my art. This piece is rather contemporary but at the same time has a sense of honesty.
Here is my latest! Enjoy.
